Thanks for sharing this information. Most of us don't subscribe to the WSJ and wouldn't learn about why our taxes are increasing and where they are going but for your sharing. It's interesting that National Defense spending rose so much in the early 50s. I realize the Korean War took place, but would have thought the larger increase came after Nikita Kruschev (SP?) threatend the USA in the LATE 50s.

Korean War cost a lot of money - more than many think. The Korean War cost US$30 billion in 1953, which is equivalent to US$341 billion in 2011 dollars - even more in 2022.
